Show Notes

What really happened in East Baltimore when a powerful institution, Johns Hopkins, kicked out 800 families to try to gentrify the historically black neighborhood surrounding its world famous hospital? Ed talks to Donald Gresham, an icon of organizing and resistance in Middle East Baltimore. Hopkins, along with its allies in the city, nonprofits like the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and big wealthy developers has tried to erase the history of this neighborhood in the name of its own wealthier and whiter vision. But the community rose up to fight back, and continues to fight. Learn about the destruction, and continued resilience, of Middle East Baltimore from one of the most important organizers in the area.
